Memorial Celebrations at Grafton

28 October 2006.

Sorry about the poor quality of the video

Chris Fogg the General Manager of the Hang Gliding Federation of Australia organised a demonstration of what was supposed to be an Aerostructures glider at the Memorial Celebrations at Grafton on the 28 October 2006. Bill Moyes provided the glider and boat, Bill also drove the boat and controlled the activity. For some reason at the last minute Pat Crowe was put in the position of towline observer on the boat even though he had no experience. As can be guessed this was also amazingly the pilots first time trying to tow like this. The glider turned out to be the one John Dickenson built and sold to Ray Leighton in 1965-66, with a newer sail on it. This glider has wooden leading edges and keel. Mike Burns was not pleased when he heard Mr Fogg telling the crowd it was an Aerostructures built glider.

So far no accident report has been published.

This is the very same Glider seen on the cover of the Water Skier magazine in April 1967, only the sail has been replaced
